Patients who have undergone a significant weight fluctuation, such as from bariatric surgery or even multiple pregnancies, may have very loose skin that sags or hangs from their body. This can affect patients differently, and those that are struggling with excess skin on their lower half, such as around the stomach, flanks, thighs, and buttocks, can achieve a completely new appearance with a butt and body lift by Dr. Rodriguez. Using a number of procedures like liposuction, the surgeon can reduce unwanted fat in the target areas and then trim away the excess fat. With the remaining tissue, the skin can be pulled taut and lifted to provide a more defined figure. For some patients, this can be combined with butt implants or a fat transfer procedure to achieve the best possible results.

Gluteal Enhancement – Butt Lift with Implants

This 42 year-old woman from the Brownsville, Texas area presented to my cosmetic surgery clinic requesting a perkier and fuller butt. She is 5’3” tall and weighed 165 pounds. We had previously performed a Mommy Makeover on this patient with an extended tummy tuck and a breast lift with implants. She now returns for her staged posterior body lift that we had discussed at her initial consultation. In order to achieve the tightness and fullness that she desired for her butt, we discussed intramuscular silicone gluteal implants with additional redo VASER liposuction to her flanks and outer thighs. She was not a candidate for simple fat transfer. I placed 485ml round AART silicone butt implants within the gluteus maximus muscle as part of her posterior body lift surgery. She healed very well and her results are shown at only 5 weeks!

She had undergone a laparoscopic gastric sleeve procedure 5 years before, and had lost 70 pounds. She was 275 pounds and now weighed 205. She is 5’3”. Her primary concern was the excess skin and fat that remained around her abdomen, torso, outer thighs, and buttocks. We discussed the Around-the-World Abdominoplasty, which combines an extended abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with full plication of her diastasis recti, and a posterior lower body lift (butt lift). CASE 692: “Around-the-World” Tummy Tuck with Posterior Body Lift, Lipo to Outer Thighs and Flanks
Age: 48 | Height: 5’3″ | Weight: 176

This 48 year-old woman from the Brownsville, Texas area presented to my plastic surgery clinic for total body sculpting. She is 5’3″ tall and weighed 176 pounds. We started with an extended tummy tuck with liposuction to her flanks, back, and outer thighs (See abdominoplasty photo gallery).

The patient was very pleased with her initial results, and was very compliant with her diet and exercise program. One year later, she returned complaining of worsening cellulite and sagging around her butt and thighs as she continued to loose weight. We discussed a full posterior body lift to remove all the excess skin from her outer thighs and butt to maximize her gluteal contour enhancement. In addition, we performed more liposuction to her outer thighs and laser liposuction to her inner thighs. As part of the procedure, we also performed a scar revision of her prior tummy tuck scar to optimize the circumferential scar. Her weight is down to 167 pounds. This patient from the Edinburg, Texas area presented to my plastic surgery clinic requesting gluteal enhancement. She was interested in possible fat transfer to her butt for a “Brazilian Butt Lift”, but her body habitus was too thin with no areas of donor fat for transfer.

Her primary concern was her sagging lower butt and outer thighs. We discussed a full posterior body lift to excise the excess tissue and create a full butt lift and an outer thigh lift. Since she had had a prior tummy tuck, we would incorporate the posterior body lift scar with her tummy tuck scar.
