What Is A Brachioplasty?

A Brachioplasty, or an arm lift, is a surgical procedure that targets the fat and skin on the arms to give patients an improved contour. This leads to leaner-looking arms – an improvement that may not be easy to get from a diet alone.

People often decide to have an arm lift procedure to remove stubborn fat and excess skin beneath the arm after they’ve lost weight.

How Is A Brachioplasty Performed?

Patients with good skin tone and mild to moderate excess fat may achieve beautiful results with VASERLipo® with or without BodyTite™. However, people with dramatic amounts of extra skin following a significant weight loss require select traditional Brachioplasty to have an impactful outcome.

An axillary crisscross or axillary bantam plasty is a surgery used to remove skin and fat from a person’s armpits. It leaves a linear scar hidden in the bicipital groove of the upper arm that extends across the armpit.

Dr. Rodriguez usually performs VASERLipo® as part of the arm lift procedure, and the operation usually lasts three to four hours (depending on the amount of excess skin and fat).

What Results Can I Expect From A Brachioplasty?

After a Brachioplasty, you’ll notice the changes immediately. Swelling is common after this type of surgery and can last up to two weeks. The swelling should slowly reduce before disappearing altogether, and at that point, the surgery will have fully taken its toll.

What Is Recovery Like Following A Brachioplasty?

Following your Brachioplasty operation, we recommend taking up to a week off work. During that time, you should be able to perform light activities such as bathing and eating but will not be able to do more demanding tasks like driving for a few days. Light exercise can be resumed approximately three weeks after treatment. After six weeks, you should be fully recovered and able to resume all normal activities. During your consultation, Dr. Rodriguez will explain what you can expect after your treatment, along with any specific instructions to be followed.

A Brachioplasty is a surgical procedure where the inner arm skin is tightened, and excess fat is removed.
