Diagnostic Ultrasound for Varicose Veins in McAllen, TX

DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND FOR VARICOSE VEINS

With a diagnostic ultrasound, patients can determine the severity and cause of varicose veins, leading to better treatment of the condition. As one of the largest vein care centers of South Texas, RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center offers in-house ultrasound services, providing comprehensive vein care for residents of McAllen, Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, and all of South Texas.

What Is A Diagnostic Ultrasound For Varicose Veins?

Varicose vein disease is a complex condition that requires a team approach to complete treatment. The venous system of the lower extremities includes many networks of veins, making it difficult to diagnose varicose vein disease solely by evaluating the skin’s surface. The superficial venous system is visible from the surface and is often what patients notice when they become affected by varicose vein disease. However, there are veins deep beneath the muscle that require ultrasound technology in order to be properly viewed. With a diagnostic ultrasound, we can determine if a patient has more serious health issues, such as venous insufficiency, which may require an alternative treatment approach.

Where Is The Diagnostic Ultrasound Performed?

At RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center, all new patient consultations include a thorough ultrasound in-house. By offering this service within our own facility, patients can enjoy the convenience of our comprehensive vein care and accelerate their treatment process. Our dedicated ultrasonographer helps determine the extent of venous disease so that an effective treatment plan can be established. Patients with symptoms of leg heaviness, leg swelling, restless leg syndrome, or a history of a leg ulcer may expect an ultrasound as part of their varicose vein disease diagnosis and treatment.

What Happens After The Diagnostic Ultrasound?

If the ultrasound identifies venous insufficiency, then the treatment of varicose vein disease must begin with the saphenous veins. These are the veins deeper in the skin that aren’t visible from the surface. If venous insufficiency is discovered, we will recommend endovenous laser vein therapy. Afterwards, treatment is focused on removing the visible varicose veins. For this, we will recommend phlebectomy or sclerotherapy. These treatments can also help patients who only suffer from visible varicose veins and do not have deeper venous insufficiency.

How Much Do Diagnostic Ultrasounds Cost?

Most private insurance and Medicare cover the cost of the diagnostic ultrasound as part of your initial vein consultation. To determine the cost of your diagnostic ultrasound, we invite you to schedule a private consultation at our practice. During your consultation, we will assess your cosmetic goals in order to pursue a treatment plan that matches your unique needs. Then, we will be able to provide you with a clear breakdown of the costs associated with your treatment. At RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center, we accept a number of payment and financing options, including cash, checks, money orders, major credit cards, and CareCredit® financing. We also offer simple and secure online payment options for the convenience of our patients.
