If I have fat removed through liposuction, will fat reappear elsewhere?

The short answer is no. First and foremost, patients who undergo liposuction should be committed to maintaining their weight and a healthy lifestyle. Here’s why. Liposuction is a Body Contouring technique, not a method of surgical weight loss. The fat removed during liposuction is permanently removed, but there is always a thin layer of fat that is left in the areas treated to maintain a soft and natural look.
Fat will not magically appear in areas that were not treated. However, if significant weight gain occurs following liposuction, the remaining fat cells in the areas treated can grow and store more fat. The resulting fat from weight gain may be deposited irregularly in the areas that were treated, resulting in a lumpy, bumpy appearance.
Also, weight gain, accelerates fatty deposits in parts of the body that were not treated with liposuction. This is why you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
As you can see, gaining weight after liposuction is the last thing you want to do to maintain the shape you achieved with liposuction. Both of these scenarios would require another liposuction procedure, and redo liposuction procedures are more challenging than first-time procedures due to the underlying scar tissue from the first liposuction surgery. Therefore, liposuction works hand-in-hand with a healthy, low-fat diet and a program of regular exercise.
