What Is Kybella®?
Historically, the only available treatments to eliminate neck fat (or a “double chin”) were face and neck lift surgery. Many patients, however, would prefer to avoid surgery if possible. Thankfully, Kybella®, a new game-changing product, is an FDA-approved injectable for the treatment of stubborn fat below the chin. Before, there was no other option for removing a “double chin” other than going under the knife. Kybella® has been clinically proven to permanently destroy fat cells, causing a more defined, chiseled jawline. Kybella® works thanks to the deoxycholic acid in its formula. This naturally occurring molecule aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat, destroying fat cells while preserving the health and function of the surrounding non-fat cells.
What Can I Expect From A Kybella® Treatment?
The Kybella® treatment only takes about 30 minutes per session. The treatment involves a number of small injections around the neck area. This is a fairly comfortable process, although we offer patients a topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort that may arise during treatment. The Kybella® formula is injected into the targeted area and immediately begins to take effect.
When Will I See Results From Kybella®?
Most patients begin to see results from their Kybella® treatment within a few weeks of treatment. After your injections, the Kybella® formula begins to slowly break down fat. It can take time for this process to occur, and most patients will need multiple sessions to achieve the full effects. We’ve noticed that patients achieve the best results after two to three sessions, each spaced about six weeks apart. Fortunately, the results from Kybella® are permanent, so you can enjoy the effects of Kybella® for years to come.
Is There Any Downtime After Kybella®?
The Kybella® treatment is minimally invasive and therefore requires no downtime after treatment. Some patients may experience swelling in the treatment area, but this typically fades away within 48 hours. Patients are able to resume work and other normal activities immediately following their appointment.
