I came across a quote by the recent deceased Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on reversing a decision he had made years before in a lower court. He said, “I have gained new wisdom, or more critically, discarded old ignorance.” His words speak to the core of my philosophy as a surgeon. I believe it is paramount for surgeons to continuously improve their methods and stay up to date on new techniques, technology and products.
This is why I choose to present my research and outcomes at the national American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery conferences and serve as an oral examiner for the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. In addition, I have applied the techniques and skills that I mastered as a cardiothoracic surgeon, plastic surgeon, and advanced fellowship trained cosmetic surgeon to improve the outcomes of my cosmetic surgery patients. I believe every person needs his or her cosmetic surgeon to have the wisdom that comes with experience and the knowledge that comes from continued advanced education.
