What Is VASERLipo®?

VASER technology supplements traditional liposuction techniques using high frequency ultrasound energy. It is important for patients to understand that VASER technology does not replace traditional liposuction – it serves to enhance the results of traditional liposuction. Although there is always some natural skin retraction after traditional liposuction, this is often not enough to achieve the patients’ desired skin tightening results – especially for the difficult “bra fat” area, arms, inner thighs, flanks (or “love handles”), and under the chin. For these areas, VASER liposuction can be very useful for enhancing the results of traditional liposuction.

What Is The Difference Between Laser Liposuction And VASERLipo®?

Although VASER liposuction sounds like laser liposuction, the two technologies are very different. VASER liposuction involves an additional step prior to the actual liposuction, wherein high frequency ultrasound energy is used to pre-treat the areas of fat to be removed. VASER stands for “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance,” which is a fancy way of describing what high frequency ultrasound energy is. Laser liposuction, on the other hand, uses laser energy during the liposuction procedure. This makes the procedure itself different from traditional liposuction, as laser liposuction accelerates treatment and recovery time.

How Is VASERLipo® Performed?

VASERLipo® is a pre-treatment to liposuction. It is administered by using the VASER device, which emits ultrasound energy to break down fat before the liposuction procedure. This is a comfortable and quick process, although anesthetics are typically administered for the liposuction procedure that follows. After this, liposuction is performed as usual.

How Is Recovery From VASERLipo®?

Although VASERLipo® does not change the liposuction procedure, it can improve the results and even accelerate the treatment process. It should not make a large impact on the recovery period of liposuction, although in some cases, it can reduce the swelling and bruising typically experienced. During your consultation, we will explain how VASERLipo® will influence your unique liposuction experience and tell you what you can expect regarding results and recovery.
