What Are Vein Treatments?

Our veins are tasked with the important job of transporting deoxygenated blood back to the heart from all over the body. This is especially challenging for the veins in our legs, because the blood must move up against gravity to return to the heart. To accomplish this, our leg veins have developed special one-way valves to help the blood move up against gravity. As we age or after pregnancy, our leg veins can become weakened and enlarged. This can also happen as a result of injury. Regardless of the reason, venous insufficiency and varicose veins can cause symptoms of pain, swelling, restless legs and can lead to other health issues, such as leg ulcers. Most patients seek vein treatments to eliminate the appearance of veins on the body, most commonly in the legs, but varicose veins are much more than a cosmetic concern. Patients suffering from leg pain, restless-leg-syndrome, leg swelling, heaviness, lymphedema, venous ulcers, venous insufficiency, or other vein-related conditions can find relief thanks to vein treatments.

Varicose Veins Treatment In McAllen, TX

Varicose veins are more than a cosmetic concern. Although most people think of them as unsightly, they may signal more serious underlying vein disease and reflux conditions – especially if associated with leg swelling and heaviness during the day, or restless legs syndrome at night. As one of the largest vein clinics in South Texas, RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center offers varicose vein treatments to residents of McAllen, Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, and all of South Texas

What Is Vein Disease?

Damaged veins take many different forms, from small surface veins to large, grape-like clusters. No matter what size or shape, these are signs of vein disease and may be caused by faulty valves. With varicose veins, treatment is important because, without treatment, they may lead to more serious complications, such as ulcerations, blood clots or spontaneous venous rupture. Because varicose vein disease is a medical condition, many of our treatments for varicose veins and reflux are covered by insurance.
Many people inherit vein disorders, and the incidence is higher in women than men. In the United States, almost 25% of all adults suffer from painful and unsightly vein conditions, and 50% of women have vein disease. If you are somebody who suffers from varicose veins, treatment is here.
We offer innovative, effective treatments for the full spectrum of vein disease, including venous insufficiency, varicose veins and spider veins. With varicose veins treatment, your body will re-route blood flow into stronger, healthier veins, reducing vein problems and improving circulation. RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Care offers minimally invasive methods of treating varicose veins, in a comfortable office setting.

What Are Spider Veins?

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They appear most commonly on the face and legs and may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or spider/web-like shapes with a dark center. It is estimated that they affect nearly half of adult women in the U.S.
Spider veins are caused by a variety of factors, including heredity, pregnancy, weight gain, long periods of standing, and certain medications. They often appear red or blue, and because they form on the face, thighs, calves and ankles, many patients are bothered by the way they look. Others seek spider vein treatment for uncomfortable symptoms such as aching, burning, swelling, and cramping. If you are one of those individuals, please call our vein treatment center today for more information on how you can benefit from spider vein treatment.

What Are Varicose Vein Treatments?

Endovenous Laser Therapy – Used to treat saphenous vein reflux, which is the most important factor underlying varicose vein disease. ELVT has replaced the older saphenous vein stripping surgical procedure, which used to be performed in the OR under general anesthesia. EVLT is performed in the office under IV sedation and local anesthesia. The procedure involves using ultrasound guidance to place a thin laser inside the diseased segments of the saphenous veins to seal them closed. This forces the blood into other healthy veins to return the circulation and help improve leg swelling, heaviness, restless legs, skin discoloration, or venous stasis ulcers. The saphenous veins can be safely closed off or removed without causing any harm. The EVLT procedure is extremely safe and has a 99% long-term success rate.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy – This procedure is the most common treatment for varicose veins, either in the event that laser treatment of the vein is not feasible, or as the second stage of treatment after the EVLT. This procedure is done under local anesthetic and involves mapping the veins, numbing these areas and making micro punctures in the skin whereby the veins can be “teased” out with special instruments. The procedure takes less than an hour, and you will be instantly free from bulging, twisted varicose veins, and back to enjoying your everyday activities.

Sclerotherapy – is a nonsurgical procedure performed in our MedSpa to eliminate visible spider veins by injection of a sclerosing solution through a tiny needle. If you’re showing signs of vein disease like spider veins, varicose veins, swollen feet and ankles, leg heaviness, restless legs, then you will find our vein treatment center, with over 15 years of dedicated service, very valuable. Determine whether your veins are cosmetic or medical cases, and learn why you have varicose veins. We’ll guide you through the necessary steps to maintain long-term outcomes in a comfortable, accommodating setting. Please Contact us to schedule a consultation with a board-certified surgeon and vein specialist. Our expertise and years of experience allow us to offer safe and effective treatments to patients in McAllen, Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, and all of South Texas.
